In retrospect, the old forums were awesome.
I hope everyone involved was part of the 20%, and they remain unemployed for a long, long time, so they can think about what they've done.
Especially since they proudly claimed it was the culmination of 70000+ man hours of development work, only to have to take it down for another 6 months to fix all the security holes.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Well, I am guessing here but they are using transitional markup too, which is a bit more flexible/fault tolerant.
it is when you define it correctly as it is they define transitional and link to the strict DTD right click and look at the page source Ah... right you are. Yah... OK that makes no sense to me. That is just weird. w3c validator saved my life its now one of my primary tools when designing
True dat.
Combined with chrome's developer tools, it's hard these days to gimp HTML/CSS/JS code unless you are being lazy.

And yep. CSS is spec - now. Pity some of the major browser people didn't spot the efficacy of a CSS standards in the early days.
Just go ahead and say it: Microsoft.

Just go ahead and say it: Microsoft. though it pains me to say it, I'm actually having more troubles with firefox being too liberal in it's interpretations of gimpy code, explorer actually shows you that you screwed up, firefox tends to hide it now so you think everything is A-OK, that is until you validate or run it in explorer. I consider all browsers to be the devil
Yeah quirks-mode in all browsers is a 2 edged sword for sure. FF has a Mac-like tendency to "help you" when it is not wanted. IE's lack of CSS 2 & 3 features and fast and loose interpretation of ECMAScript are my biggest complaints. I only load IE now to test final work, and then only inside a VM
Once I started doing just about everything in Chrome making use of its developers tools I cut my x-browser debug time by at least half.

Just go ahead and say it: Microsoft. Dang. You had to go and say THAT word. Now I gone and got all sweaty and sufferin' anxiety attacks all over again. Off to see my shrink before I contact my client to explain wtf happened. And Morgs. Oh yeah baby. Used to be tough enough with just Netscape and THAT company. Then FF came in and some other random browsers and turned me into a quivering vegetable. Had to buy a new HD just to run all the damn browsers to check CSS padding! I miss the old days when all I had to do was configure dial strings on trumpet winsock so people could DL **** from BBS sites over Z-modem.... no wait....
Real men took chances and used Ymodem-G
I don't miss my $600/mo phone bills from running a multi-line BBS.
